Dan Christison became the CFC’s unofficial Heavyweight champion when he knocked out previously unbeaten Winnipeger Rodrigo Munduruca at CFC 3. Now, the Canadian Fighting Championship is pleased to announce that Christison will be returning to Winnipeg on February 26 to take on Mike Wessel.
Fans will remember Wessel from his appearance last season on The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights. There Wessel was upset by Marcus Jones with a very surprising submission loss. At the time, Team Rashad was unaware of Jones’ submission prowess. Coming off his disappointing stop in the UFC, the 6-1 Wessel has chosen to take a step up in competition.

The 17-7 Dan Christison has won nine of his last ten fights and is quickly becoming a Winnipeg favourite. Christison, who fought on TUF 2, moved on to the UFC where he defeated Brad Imes and then lost a close decision to former UFC Heavyweight champion Frank Mir. The Sandman will be a very challenging opponent for Wessel.
With two fighters over 250 pounds in the main event, the Canadian Fighting Championship required a big man to get between them. Once again, the CFC is pleased to announce that “Big” John McCarthy will be officiating the CFC 4 main event plus four other fights on the card.
To see the big men in action, fans can purhase tables by calling (204) 772-2599. General admission tickets are also available at Ticketmaster.
